St. George's Cathedral is the symbol monument of the Sicilian Baroque, listed on the World List by UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The interior of the church is five aisles, with 22 columns ending with Corinthian capitals. Among the aisles to attract attention is a wonderful four-keyboard organ built between 1885 and 1888. Various paintings grace the walls of the Church including Paladini's Assumption, the Nativity of Carlo Cane and the Our Lady of the Snow by Mancini and Berrettaro. Cathedral-of-San-Peter-modica Of equal beauty and charm is St. Peter's Cathedral. It also belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage List although unfortunately over the centuries it has been repeatedly damaged by several seismic events. After the earthquake of 1693 the Church was restored and today it presents itself to three internal aisles with 14 columns, a beautiful decorated floor and an imposing staircase, with statues of the twelve apostles, leading to the entrance. The facade is divided into two orders and enriched by four statues depicting San Cataldo, St. Rosalia, St. Peter and Our Lady. At the highest point is the statue of Jesus Christ in Triumph. The Church of St. Mary of Jesus withstood the earthquake of 1693 and for this reason declared a National Monument. This church retains a beautiful cloister with several decorated columns and two orders
